Introducing... • Marlowe Hazel Burnette 7 lbs 6 oz, 20 inches Born 1.3.19 at 9:31 am • From Tim: The poetic meaning of Marlowe is “driftwood,” and the meaning of “Hazel” comes from Julian of Norwich, a mystic and the first woman to write in the English language. Her vision was of a hazelnut, in which she was reminded that the little things are made, loved, and kept by God. In this little thing she saw the unceasing love of the whole cosmos. We chose this as a picture of our love for this little thing that will surround her no matter where she drifts along in her life. We at FCCSB are so happy for them and wish many blessings and love for this little sister and daughter and grandaughter. Welcome little Lowie!

Sadly last week we lost dear member Patsy Favalora. Comfort and peace to her family. She will be missed by her word and playing the drums at worship.
We are sad to hear of our good friend Rev Ruth Ann Moran's passing on Sunday evening. Prayers for her family as she has been a blessing. Rev Ruth Ann Moran and her husband Rev Geoffrey Moran both have frequently preached at FCCSBCA and are wonderful friends.

Good news! As of today all evacuations are lifted in Santa Barbara. While FCCSBCA and members have been blessed to survive the Thomas fire that is over 60% contained so far - it's not over for some as there are those in our beloved community that have lost homes and property and are displaced. We also pray for the healing and restored energy of the firefighters who have worked (and still are) so tirelessly. And for the Iverson family of the Thomas firefighter's one lost fireman our prayers and hearts are for you. ================ EVACUATION ORDERS FOR SANTA BARBARA COUNTY NEW All Santa Barbara County mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders have been lifted effective 9 a.m. on December 21, 2017. ROAD CLOSURES - SANTA BARBARA COUNTY All roads are currently open. ================ Next is a time for renewal and support. Though we remain steadfast as the fire is not completely out yet. We Thank You for holding us all in your thoughts and prayers. Many people are cleaning up and getting back into their homes and businesses in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties just before Christmas season starts so we look forward to your visits soon and may the peace of Jesus Christ be with you.
Due to the challenges and evacuations extending into the Santa Barbara Riviera from the Thomas fire, we are canceling worship service, Congregational meeting and Christmas party for this Sunday 12/17/17. Some members have been evacuated but all are safe. Prayers in this dark Advent season for our community and for the work of firefighters in the front lines and all personnel working tirelessly. Our first experiment with recording a member at home doing the Sunday's liturgy is for this Sunday 6/2/13. We are trying this out in order to incorporate some of our home "centered" members to be able to participate in the worship service - a new way to contribute in praise to God. This is a short interview with FCCSBCA member Ann Sloan on how she felt about the process we just did.
